Involvement Opportunities
- Graphic Designer – Assist in designing flyers, brochures and other publications.
- Fundraiser – Help come up with new ideas for events, call potential donors, or attract donations.
- Administrative Volunteer – Return or answer daily calls, mailings, and general office-type responsibilities.
- Public Relations – Work with the media, write press releases, spread the word and attract interest for events such as the Workshop and Walkathon.
- Caretakers with Yards – People who have yards where feral cats can be relocated are always needed. We will fully explain the process and assist in ensuring that once the cats are relocated they remain in the area.
- Fostering – Young kittens who are found living on the street are usually removed and need a good safe home to stay in until they are adopted.
- Caretaker Substitute – When a caretaker cannot make it out to their colony others need to be called upon to make sure the cats are looked after.
- Adoption – Assist with transportation, as well as with the event itself.
- Help with Events – Help plan, set up, and publicize events such as the Workshops and Walkathon.

Dear Feral Cat Caretakers:
Who are we? According to the Humane Society of the United States, there are about 17.5 million of us, nationally, feeding and caring for homeless cats and kittens, referred to as feral cats and strays. It is estimated that one in five households are involved, and in so doing, many find themselves isolated and misunderstood by their friends and relativeand the communities they serve.
As it now stands, in most communities, the caretakers and feral cats are responded to in a fragmented manner. There may be other persons feeding the same cats and not know about one another. They would be willing to help but there is no network for contact. Our anonymity, lack of support and fear, all work against us and those we care for. We usually wait to contact someone when the situation is out of hand.
Many of us do not have the educational skills and tools necessary for successful long-term outcomes. But, we have the passion and commitment to care for the homeless feral cats and kittens under the most heartbreaking circumstances. Their presence gives us the strength and courage to endure.
WHAT CAN WE DO?–Now is the time for you to come together locally and organize into a cohesive, well informed group. A dedicated membership with a united cause will attract attention, local recognition and support. Begin by networking, share your resources and experiences and build a strong neighborhood constituency. No matter the size, it will be a forceful united voice for the feral cats and kittens.Do not be intimidated or discouraged. Set your goals, be creative and you can do what might seem impossible. I DID IT.
We have the collective material available to begin your project and sufficient information to form a Community Cat Workshop in your area. Attached is a Caretaker Membership Form you can use to recruit people and network. Feel free to copy or change to your specifications. We conduct ongoing yearly workshops in the Los Angeles area. The time and place is posted here and in our newsletters.
